What is a celebration of life?
A celebration of life is a gathering that honours who a person was — their stories, music, photographs and the people they loved — rather than focusing only on mourning their death. It can stand alongside a traditional funeral or replace it entirely, and it can be as formal or as relaxed as the person it celebrates.
What is MiWish?
MiWish is an Australian platform for planning your own celebration of life while you can. You record your life story, choose the photographs, music and videos that matter, write your speech (with optional AI help), organise practical final wishes for your executor, and share the finished presentation privately with the people you nominate.
Who can see what I create?
No one, until you decide otherwise. Everything you add is private to your account by default — nothing is ever public. When you are ready, you nominate specific people, and each receives a private, read-only link. Recipients can view your memorial content; only recipients you mark as an executor can additionally see your final wishes and estate documents.
How do my family access my presentation?
Each person you nominate receives a secure private link — no account, no password, no app to install. The link opens your finished presentation, the memorial guestbook, and a downloadable keepsake PDF. You stay in control: you can revoke any link at any time, and no recipient can ever edit what you made.
Is MiWish a will?
No. MiWish is a planning and record-keeping tool, not a legal document. Recording your wishes on MiWish does not create or change a will, power of attorney or advance care directive. Its Final Wishes area is the practical companion to those documents — for example, recording where your will is kept and who your solicitor is — so your executor can find everything quickly.
Can family and friends add their own photos and messages?
Yes, in two ways. While you are planning, you can send private contribution links that let family and friends submit a photo or message for your approval — nothing appears in your presentation unless you accept it. Later, memorial visitors can sign a guestbook, with entries appearing only after your nominated executor approves them.
What is the difference between a next of kin and an executor on MiWish?
Both are people you nominate to receive your presentation, and both get the same view of your memorial content. The difference is estate information: only a recipient you mark as an executor can see your recorded final wishes and any uploaded will or estate documents. Marking someone as an executor on MiWish is an access level you choose — it does not legally appoint them executor of your estate.
Can I change my plan after I have made it?
Yes, as often as you like. Your plan is yours to edit at any time — swap photos, rewrite your speech, rearrange the presentation, change your recipients. Many people start with the basics in an afternoon and refine it over months. Your recipients always see the version you most recently finalised.
How is my information protected?
Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, your photos and videos live in private storage that is never publicly accessible, and your final wishes get an extra layer of encryption before they ever reach the database. Access for your family works through long, unguessable private links that you can revoke at any time. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
What does MiWish cost?
MiWish is currently in early access. Any pricing will always be shown clearly before you pay for anything — and a presentation that has already been shared with your family will never be taken away from them over billing.
Is MiWish Australian?
Yes. MiWish is built and operated in Australia by MiWish Pty Ltd (ACN 701 521 164, ABN 65 701 521 164), based in Victoria, and we handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
